Artificial intelligence on your phone. Think about that! A.I., used for defense, finance, and believe it or not, gaming, is coming to your handheld smartphone. The article Artificial Intelligence Goes Global discusses how IBM is working on this type of technology. The artificial intelligence can suggest ways to change your stock portfolio from your phone! It will respond more quickly than any other machine. The article predicts that doctors will have A.I. screening test results and diagnosing patients.
While the doctor bit is amazing, I hope that we do not completely rely on computer chips to make important decisions.
Another amazing new product is Intel's mind reading hat! It's a wireless hat that can predict what you are thinking. It will be years before the A.I. is fully trained with vocabulary in order for it to really be useful.
Within the next ten years we will be shocked with the bounds of new technology available for use. We will be in one of those nonrealistic si-fi movies!
I agree with you, Katy, everything that this article talks about is amazing and some of it sounds like it's right out of a sci-fi movie, but I don't think that we should ever completely rely on artificial intelligence.
ReplyDeleteIntel's mind-reading hat is unbelievable! I wonder what Intel plans on using that type of A. I. for. In the article it didn't really specify what we would be using a mind-reading hat for once it has completely developed its vocabulary. Overall, I am anxious to see what comes of it in the next ten years!
I agree with you also Katy. It is just scary to me to think that computers will now be thinking for me. I know know if i am ready for that. While all of these improvements in technology are really cool to think about it can also be scary to think that these machines can know what you're thinking.
ReplyDeleteI guess it is just that while a lot of good can come with improvements in technology there are also some bad that comes along with taking out the human part of life. All in all its really an interesting topic to think about.
