Going along with our outsourcing discussions, I read the article India Outsourcers Feel Unloved in U.S. and learned how in August Congress passed a bill raising fees for work visas from $2,000 to $4,300.
So many Americans disagree with outsourcing, believing that outsourcing takes jobs away from American citizens. I disagree. Our country needs to focus on its core competency. Each country should spend its resources on what it does best, and outsource the rest. Focusing on core competencies leads to a more productive and efficient country.
After reading the article, I noticed that it just focused on outsourcers in India and did not mention other countries that the U.S. outsources IT activities to. Is this because India is the country that is affected the most by this recent bill?
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree that a country should focus on what it does best in order to be more efficient and wisely use resources. However, I think companies should be careful when deciding to outsource because as we have seen in class, outsourcing isn't the answer to every company's problems.
The very reason we opt for outsourcing in to gain
ReplyDeletecost efficiencies, we do not have in-house people to do the job or the other company performs the job better. Hence, though there are some disadvantages of outsourcing, the advantages cannot be ignored. Instead of rising the cost of outsourcing which would negatively impact both the end parties it is better to formulate an alternative win-win situation.
